Postsecondary Goals
Postsecondary Goals represent what the student wants to do and be in the future. While these goals may change every year, they are designed to stimulate discussion and focus the team's efforts on helping the student accomplish his or her wants.
In most states there are three Postsecondary Goals:
- Training/Education
- After I graduate from high school, I will go to a technical college to become an auto mechanic.
- After I leave the school program, I will attend on-the-job training for working in a retail store.
- Employment
- After I graduate from technical college, I will work full time as a mechanic.
- After completing my on-the-job training I will work part time in a retail store.
- Independent Living
- Once I am employed full time, I will live independently on my home.
- Once I am ready to leave home, I will live with a roommate in a group home.
