Transition Skills
In school, transition skills help make a successful transition from one class to the next, from one school to the next, or from high school or college to adulthood.
In life, transition skills help people advocate for themselves, adapt to new environments, solve problems, make decisions, cope with stress, and maintain their health.
In the workplace, transition skills help employees get along with co-workers, cope with complex and diverse work environments, and adapt to new responsibility.
Targeting Transition Skills
Targeting Transition provides a research-based set of transition skills for four types of students: those who are higher-functioning (having the potential to live an independent adult life), those who have moderate disabilities (having the potential to live a somewhat dependent adult life), those on the autism spectrum, or those with severe disabilities (who will live a dependent adult life).
